Don’t look now, but the ATL Falcons want to hire Bill Parcells to run their football operation. Talk about an upgrade.

The Tuna is a bit of a blow-hard, but the guy knows NFL personnel. He has a coaching tree. You have him pick a coach — a current assistant somewhere no doubt — and pick free agents to go after. Boom — the Falcons go from floundering to a team with a Plan.

Can the same be said of the Panthers? The Richardsons should be worried about Parcells setting up shop in their division, possibly even raiding Carolina for talent. This gets us back to the eternal — it seems — question of how long can the Panthers go on without a first-tier football guy in the front-office.

Could be a very eventful off-season.

Update: Tuna says no, the AP reports.
