• A new SurveyUSA poll for Time Warner Cable News offers little good news for incumbent Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan. Half of the respondents disapprove of her performance and only 38 percent approve. Moreover, she finishes second (but within the margin of error) to each Republican challenger. House Speaker Thom Tillis ranks first among Republicans with 25 23 percent, followed by Greg Brannon at 15 percent, Mark Harris at 11 percent, and the others in single digits, with 34 percent remaining undecided.
