• The News & Record’s Doug Clark raises questions about ad buys from two Super PACs, one supported by — among others — the Koch brothers — in the Supreme Court race involving Democratic Justice Robin Hudson and Republicans Eric Levinson and Jeanette Doran. The top two finishers in Tuesday’s primary will face each other in the November general election.

• John Edwards is back! In an ad from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce backing 7th District GOP contender David Rouzer, the Chamber ties New Hanover County Commissioner Woody White, who’s also a litigator, to the infamous former N.C. senator and current trial lawyer.

• In the U.S. Senate race, Republican Thom Tillis finally has broken out in an independent poll. The Democratic firm Public Policy Polling finds Tillis getting 46 percent of primary voters, more than double his last result. Greg Brannon received the support of 20 percent of the respondents, and Mark Harris collected 11 percent. Nearly all of Tillis’ gains could be from voters who previously were undecided: That share of the polling sample fell from 34 percent last month to 12 percent in the most recent poll. If Tillis gets 40 percent of the vote after Tuesday’s primary, he will not face a runoff.

• As expected, Gov. Pat McCrory on Tuesday endorsed Tillis. The U.S. Chamber also has an ad campaign in store for the state House speaker from Mecklenburg County.

• Former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin endorses challenger Taylor Griffin in his primary contest against incumbent Rep. Walter Jones for the 3rd Congressional District.
