• Sean Haugh, who’s facing Tim D’Annunzio for the Libertarian Party’s U.S. Senate nomination, releases a campaign video in which he asks aloud a question many of us may have considered privately. And he’d appreciate beer money.

• Three left-leaning groups — the N.C. Association of Educators, the state chapter of the AFL-CIO, and the N.C. Advocates for Justice — endorse judicial candidates. In the only statewide race that will hold a May 6 primary, the groups endorse incumbent Democratic Supreme Court Justice Robin Hudson over Republican challengers Jeanette Doran and Eric Levinson. The NCAE also endorsed Democrats in two appellate court races that will be decided in November and incumbent Republican Donna Stroud, who’s running unopposed.

• A weekend conference for young Democrats opens today in Greenville, featuring U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan; two of the candidates for the 2nd Congressional District — Clay Aiken and Keith Crisco; and Attorney General Roy Cooper, who’s probably running for governor in 2016.

• Charges fly in the 7th Congressional District Republican primary race over “lobbying.”
