• A new poll from Rasmussen Reports shows Democratic U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan losing both to House Speaker Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg (47-40) and Tea Party favorite Dr. Greg Brannon (43-39).
• A survey from the Democratic Public Policy Polling firm suggests five Republican incumbents in the General Assembly may be vulnerable to strong Democratic challengers. The poll also shows at least 40 percent of the voters are undecided in all five districts, for what it’s worth.
• Conservative Guilford County Commissioner Jeff Phillips becomes the eighth(!) Republican to declare his intentions of running for the GOP nomination for the 6th Congressional District seat held by retiring Rep. Howard Coble.
• Raleigh native Brad Woodhouse, former communications director for the Democratic National Committee and brother of conservative activist (and now GOP consultant) Dallas Woodhouse, is becoming president of American Bridge, a Democratic Super PAC that does opposition research. The Super PAC was started by former Washington journalist David Brock, who wrote a scathing tell-all about law professor Anita Hill before switching to the Left and starting the left-wing group Media Matters for America.
