• The News & Record analyzes Mark Walker’s surprising margin of victory in Tuesday’s runoff for the GOP nomination in the 6th Congressional District.
• Legislation sponsored by Democratic U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan and championed by the White House that would overturn portions of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act that led to the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby decision failed. Only 56 senators voted to end debate and force a vote on the measure, but Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada could resurrect the bill later in the session.
