• There will be a televised debate between 6th Congressional District Republican candidates Phil Berger Jr. and Mark Walker after all. Time Warner Cable will air the July 11 debate, sponsored by the district’s Republican leaders. The runoff election is July 15.
• 2nd Congressional District Democratic nominee Clay Aiken tells a Sanford audience what he’d like to do in Congress, rejecting the education reforms sought by General Assembly Republicans and urging more federal spending on entitlement programs.
• The open-government Sunlight Foundation says a Tennessee-based clean-energy group supporting Democratic Sen. Kay Hagan’s re-election bid ran ads before the May 6 primary without disclosing them to the Federal Election Commission, a likely violation of campaign laws.
