• U.S. Sen. Kay Hagan joins a host of Democratic colleagues in a letter urging Republican governors (including Pat McCrory) to expand Medicaid services under Obamacare.
• Hagan’s campaign will get support from Americans for Responsible Solutions, a super PAC formed by former Rep. Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly that backs new gun control measures. Whether the backing of Second Amendment foes can be considered “support” is an open question.
• Another issue separating Hagan and her Republican rival, House Speaker Thom Tillis, R-Mecklenburg, is federal mandated Common Core standards for public schools. Tillis supports proposals removing North Carolina from Common Core and setting state-specific standards. Hagan backs Common Core. We’ll be hearing more about this, undoubtedly.
