• The liberal group Progress Action NC on Monday filed an ethics complaint against Gov. Pat McCrory, making a series of charges dealing with the disclosure of his business and investment interests. McCrory dismissed the complaint as a partisan attack, and the state Republican Party said the group was acting as a stalking horse for Attorney General Roy Cooper, a Democrat who’s expected to challenge McCrory in 2016.

• Washington Post blogger Reid Wilson reports that a group of “Senate watchers” surveyed said freshman GOP Sen. Thom Tillis, one of his fellow newcomers most likely to become a part of leadership and most likely to be a “behind-the-scenes contributor.”

• N.C. Supreme Court Associate Justice Robin Hudson, who faced tough criticism in last spring’s primary campaign from advertising by an independent group, used comments at her investiture to slam the current system of financing judicial campaigns.
