Former Charlotte city councilwoman Lynn Wheeler emails to announce that Jaye Rao, 2004 Republican Nominee for NC Secretary of State, will run for Mecklenburg County Commission in District 5. The heavily Republican district is being vacated by Commissioner Dan Bishop.
Last week another Republican, attorney Neil Cooksey, formally announced his bid for the seat. He IDed protecting taxpayers, imposing fiscal responsibility, and improving quality of life as his top concerns. Rao also cites quality of life, along with low taxes, job creation, promoting water and energy conservation, and more support for law enforcement.
