Alaska Presley continues to want to erect a megacross for a Holy Land theme park where Ghost Town in the Sky used to be. She has come down on the height, from 220 feet to 125 feet. But whether or not she is in compliance with ridge laws remains a debate. The state refused to confirm topological details, and so leadership in Maggie Valley has asked Alaska to do her own survey. Even if the cross falls within state guidelines, Maggie Valley, moving slower than folks in Asheville and Buncombe County, still hasn’t managed to slip some laws into the books governing the size of crosses.
