Maybe.

I do know that those two long TD runs broken off by Stewart and Williams probably do not happen if the Redskins had an NFL vet instead of a rookie at safety. And Kareem Moore was a sixth-round pick, at that.

Have to factor Moore into TE Dante Rosario coming open a couple times as well, although Rosario really is a weapon for this Panthers team. Another fudge-factor was DE Jason Taylor, usually injury-free in his long career, screaming like his leg was snapped and limping off the field midway thru the 2nd quarter. The Redskins defense really went downhill after that. Guess dancing is not the best off-season work for an NFL DE.

But the Panthers DL was active and getting up field, just as advertised. This was good. But Thomas Davis once again got himself out-of-position and gave up 17 yards on a run around right end. Safety, weakside, strongside — doesn’t matter. This guy just gives up big plays. Have to live with it and hope Davis is net positive in the big play department.

Most of all, though, Jake was Jake. Tried to force an early ball to #89 for a pick, but was otherwise on target, spraying the ball all over the field to different receivers, none of whom were RBs. No checkdowns for Jake. He is gambler who is going downfield, baby. If he has a running game — and knock on wood the Panthers really might — watch out.

Update: The Rock Hill Herald is reporting that WR/KR Jason Carter suffered a season-ending knee injury in the Redskin game. That is a serious bummer.
