The New England Journal of Medicine has an article
calling for higher taxes and mandatory health insurance provision by
employeres. Echoing State Rep. Clary, the authors say hospitals “should
get credit for” treating the uninsured, even though that was part of
the agreement hospitals made when they took government money in the
first place and they try to pass their costs on to the government by
qualifying patients for Medicare and Medicaid. Editor in Chief Jeffrey
Drazen wrote, “They’re saying this is going to cost more and we’re
going to have to accept that. It’s politically difficult, but these
guys are not politicians.” No, they’re not politicians, they’re welfare junkies.
