Florida Gov. Charlie Crist announced today that he’s running for U.S. Senate as an independent, even though three weeks ago he said the exact opposite.
Near the end of his speech, Crist gave this odd nugget ? so odd that I’ve never heard another politician use it:
I?m counting on you, and I believe in you. And you can believe in me, and I?ll be with you forever. Forever [and ever, amen].
OK, that last part is my embellishment. Still …
