OK, old news that Rep. John Blust’s legislation reducing the number of Guilford County commissioners to nine has passed.

But how about the school board?

Asked why he didn’t include the school board, which he has frequently criticized for overspending, Blust said, “I don’t think there has been the same level of dysfunction on the school board as the county commissioners. At least, they haven’t drawn the attention the commissioners have over the years.”

If only the school board would show a little dysfunction. To the contrary, meetings are marathon snoozefests where every issue is over analyzed to the nth degree. Having two fewer school board members could possibly mean that business could be conductred in a more efficient manner. But I guess that’s an issue for another day.
