This will be very interesting. Some conservative House members who voted against the first bill — like Rep. John Shadegg (Az.) — are already leaning toward supporting the “tweaked” version. But others remain unmoved. Myrick is still touting her vote against the first bailout.
There will be a full-court press to get this version passed and Myrick will hear from every Wachovia and Bank of America lobbyist that exists — probably several times each. Both banks’ PACs have been major contributors over the years.
Here’s what I think: If Sue Myrick votes against this package, see if she does not face a serious opponent in 2010. Provided she runs for office again. This is that serious for America’s corporate financiers.
