If you’re a NASCAR fan like I am, you probably were stunned when former truck series driver Aaron Fike admitted to using heroin on race days. Since then, NASCAR has talked about toughening up its drug testing policy.

But rather than wait for a mandate from the sanctioning body, or for some government official to call for government intervention into a privately run sport, driver/owner Kevin Harvick has stepped up and started testing his company’s employees. Harvick’s action is a great example of doing the right thing voluntarily, which eliminates the need for more rules, regulations and mandates from NASCAR and/or elected officials.

Kudos to Kevin and wife/co-owner Delana for taking action, rather than just talking. We could effectively address a lot of problems in this society if more people followed their example.
