Carefully read the Department of Justice’s letter to the University of North Carolina regarding HB2. I expected more of a “we feel ya—not your fault you were chartered in such a horrible state and we know you’re doing everything you can to promote our agenda but rules are rules” kinda letter.
But no— DOJ minces no words—by complying with HB2, UNC is “discriminating against transgender individuals on the basis of sex and gender indentity,” adding while “we recognize that the enactment of HB2 has raised many questions and concerns for students, employees and administrator… UNC’s obligations to prohibit discrimination based on sex remain unchanged.”
In other words break the law or lose millions and in case you’ve forgotten you’re more beholden to the federal government that you are the body that chartered you back in 1789.
