The Guilford County Task Force to End Homelessness ponders letting county government oversee the plan to end homelessnes by 2016. They just don’t want hardhearted county commissioners to have any say:

Some people at Monday’s task force meeting said they were nervous about the Guilford County Board of Commissioners having any influence on the group’s efforts.

“We just got through having nonprofit funding cut by the commission, and it was money from homeless that was cut,” said Michele Forrest, a volunteer with the Salvation Army’s Night Watch program.

“The commissioners I talked to told me it wasn’t the responsibility of the county funding programs (that help the homeless) anyway, and next year they intend to cut more of that kind of funding.”
