The regulators are telling the state to make bricks without straw. Actually, I don’t think they care too much if the bricks are made or not. At the last meeting of the Buncombe County Commissioners, a budget amendment was approved to hire twelve new income evaluators for NC FAST plus five supervisors for them. The former were hired to meet federal standards for time and accuracy with increasing caseloads. The five were also hired to comply with federal guidelines. The move comes with a cost of $213,726 to the county and an equal match from the federal deficit.
