The AP is reporting that the U.S. Supreme Court has denied a petition to hear arguments in the Anson Dorrance sexual harassment case, meaning a jury trial could finally become a reality for former player Melissa Jennings:

U.S. District Court Judge N. Carlton Tilley Jr. in Greensboro had dismissed Jennings’ lawsuit in October 2004, but the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals resurrected the case earlier this year, saying Jennings deserved a trial to hear the harassment claims. The Supreme Court order Monday puts the case back in Tilley’s court.

“The delays are over,” said Jennings’ attorney, Daniel Konicek of Geneva, Ill. “Now she’s prepared more than ever to see it through.”

Dorrance has vociferously maintained that so “many of the comments that were attributed to me were simply not true. I apologized before for making some inappropriate comments, but none of them reached the levels that were claimed in this case.”

But Jennings has pursued this case for almost 10 years. She obviously believes she was severely wronged.
