DPI reported a slight decrease in the state dropout rate, from 5.24 percent in 2006-2007 to 4.97 percent last year. Nearly 22,500 students dropped out last year.
While last year’s dropout rate was lowest in three years, it is still higher than the dropout rates reported for the 02-03, 03-04, and 04-05 school years.
