Now that the election season is upon us, North Carolinians may have to duck as all the money hits North Carolina from the White House. Today, it is money for a high-speed rail system as the Obama administration announces its $545 million gift to build this system from Charlotte to Raleigh to Richmond and on to the ever generous Washington, D.C.

Of course, Gov. Perdue jumped on the bandwagon with the mantra that “it will create jobs.” I’m sure we can expect more money from the Obama administration, anything to improve his poll numbers, which are in the tank. Bev’s are not much better.

There are two problems here. One, it is not the Obama administration’s money ? it is taxpayer dollars. Two, the jobs created from this venture will be a long time coming.

It will be fun to watch as the money and the promise of jobs hit the state. So duck ? it is going to be along 100 days.
