The Duke lacrosse case has been treated differently by many from the start. Instead of the accused — the three lacrosse players — deserving their day in court, many supporters of the accuser have claimed that SHE deserves her day in court. Now it looks as if the special prosecutors appointed by Attorney General Roy Cooper are doing their best to turn justice on its head, too. Instead of searching for reasonable doubt, which was documented almost from the start, and then throwing the case out when that standard is achieved, their unconscionable delay implies that they have another agenda. As prominent poster to the LieStoppers forum Tony Soprano said last night:
It seems some want the AG to implicate some players and contribute to persistent Urban legends.
One more thing that some want this case treated differently than any other in the LAND. I think what I’m hearing is that these questions MUST be answered adequately for the Black Community – or the case must continue in some sense. Is this like — if you don’t give us 3 more white guys – these guys need to stay swinging from the hooks?
