Activists in Edneyville, Henderson County, are challenging Duke Energy’s claim that installing 45 miles of underground wires is neither technologically nor financially advisable. The idea is not as wack as it sounds. Proposed is an underground line running along the I-26 right of way. It would not require dynamiting lots of mountains; it would be laid simultaneously with a scheduled widening of the interstate. That way, existing power lines could go under as well. Bill Moss, at the Hendersonville Lightning, made no attempt to reach out to the worm community for input for his article.
