Some stupid reporter just pointed out at the Duke lacrosse suit press conference that “illicit” activity occurred at the March 13, 2006 party, that strippers were hired and that underage drinking took place.

Hellooooo. Most reasonable people ditched the “they hired strippers so they deserved to have their lives ruined by an unscrupulous prosecutor, to be slandered by crazy lefty neighbors in Trinity Park, and to be portrayed as racist rapists in the media” argument long ago.

By the way, WRAL is streaming the press conference here.

Attorney Charles J. Cooper confirms that 20 players involved in the suit are still students at Duke.

Devon Sherwood, the only black player on the team at the time of the party, is also a part of this lawsuit. He’s still there. I saw him at their opening game. He’s a goalie who wears No. 1 on his jersey. He’s also the only player exempted from the DNA tests that followed the party.

When asked what Duke should have done, Cooper said “almost exactly the opposite of what they did.”

Wow. A woman reporter just asked “what exactly is the harm that was done to these players.” And this person has a reporting job?

Robert Bork Jr., (yes, it’s THAT Bork’s son) just closed the press conference. Talk about a guy who gets the new media environment! He had the Web address of this lawsuit’s Web site on the podium and he has an email address ([email protected]) set up for this particular case.

The news release and case summary is already available on the site, and the full complaint will be up later, Bork said.
