Yesterday I blogged about the Durham Public Schools Superintendent’s publicly expressed fear of public charter schools. Eric Becoats says, among many complaints, that charters “will create problems for us.” Late yesterday the Durham school board passed a resolution that puts Becoat’s fear into words and, ultimately, asks Gov. Perdue to veto a charter bill that’s making its way through the General Assembly if changes the board wants are not made to the legislation.

And by the way, the next time someone tells you that public charter schools are bad because they don’t reflect the diversity of the community, suggest they listen to this brief interview with JLF Director of Education Studies Terry Stoops about the dueling requirements charters have been forced to juggle for years.
