When last we heard, Durham’s Only Burger was in first place in the Food Network’s food truck contest. The balloting ended last Friday at midnight, but the results have not been announced. Though Durham’s entry was in first place when the gong sounded, it’s looking less likely that they were declared the winner, since the winner was supposed to be notified two days ago and, according to a recent tweet, Only Burger has heard nothing.

Whether they win or not, they can feel lucky that this L.A. food truck wasn’t in the running:

Some things are inevitable.

Sooner or later, you just knew you’d see Lady Gaga in a meat dress. Likewise, you just knew that one day you’d open up an email to find that there’s a food truck dedicated solely to the glory of bacon.

And here it is: Lardon, soft-launching tomorrow and determined to make the streets of Los Angeles a little more bacon-y.

Just like with Only Burger, you can follow Lardon on twitter to find out what their next heart-stopping special will be.

Question: What will happen first? President Obama stopping at Lardon for on of their Baco & Frisée sandwiches w/fried egg/brioche, or Michelle Obama lecturing them about making kids fatter. My money’s on the president.
