I’ll check in with occasional observations about the election returns as they’re posted.

I see from the earliest numbers that the incumbent appellate court judges seem to fairing well.  With very early numbers, Superior Court Judge Bill Gore of Whiteville is running strong in the one Supreme Court primary.

If I saw the number flash across my screen correctly, challenger Marilyn Avila has about a 2-to-1 lead over incumbent Rick Eddins with 13 percent of the precincts reporting in the Wake County GOP District 40 primary. (This is one of the races to watch closely because of its implications for the ongoing GOP feud in the House.)
