In an update to my story about Gov. Mike Easley (and his son’s) back-to-school shopping trip on the taxpayer-owned Cessna Citation, an Aug. 7 Wilmington Star photo caption read:

Gov. Mike Easley and his son Michael Jr. shop for back-to-school supplies during North Carolina’s tax-free days Friday at UNCW’s bookstore. Gov. Easley’s son is attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill this fall, and the father and son were in the Port City visiting their home in Southport. While shopping, the governor joked, “Don’t buy anything we can get at the office.” Dad purchased $19.11 worth of school supplies for Michael Jr.

Not exactly right, as my story reported. The governor stayed in the Wilmington/Southport area for the weekend, but Michael Jr. returned to Raleigh that Friday afternoon, and wasn’t on the ground long enough to make it to Southport and back to Wilmington for the return flight to Raleigh.
