Either I just missed the hubbub, or the Charlie Rose program attracts even less attention than I expected.

This afternoon, two days after the program aired, the N&O has an online piece with a transcript of Rose’s exchange with Gov. Mike Easley about the Nifong appointment.

In the interview, Easley repeated the story he offered to New York law students some weeks back: the governor expected Nifong would not run for office. Had he known, he would not have appointed the current Durham D.A.

I found this comment from the governor especially interesting:

There?s a totally different standard you set for somebody who is going
to be the elected district attorney and get into politics, and then
there?s somebody who you want just to run the office. Because when you
get out there and start making political comments, it requires a whole
lot of different talent, a whole lot of different skills that obviously
he didn?t have.
