The latest entry in Don Carrington‘s ledger of former Gov. Mike Easley’s dubious dealings focuses on a property transaction involving Easley, retiring N.C. Senate Majority Leader Tony Rand, and Bald Head Island. The Carolina Journal Executive Editor wrote an exclusive on the topic, then discussed the issue Monday morning with Scott Fitzgerald on WPTF Radio. The Beaufort Observer, Lincoln Tribune, and Carolina Politics Online picked up that story. The Rhino Times referenced the story in its own editor’s column. N.C. Senate Republicans also highlighted the article in their daily blast e-mail. News 14 Carolina referenced Carrington’s article during a television story about another legal dispute involving Rand. Speaking of News 14, the station interviewed Carrington in Charlotte during Tuesday’s Piedmont Freedom Club meeting on the Easley scandal. The Asheville Citizen-Times previewed the week’s other Freedom Club meeting. CJ Managing Editor Rick Henderson and John Locke Foundation communications director Mitch Kokai discussed Easley, Rand, the Western North Carolina Freedom Club meeting, and other hot political issues during separate appearances Wednesday with Matt Mittan on WWNC Radio’s “Take A Stand Show.”
