Evidence uncovered in recent weeks suggests federal authorities are looking closely at a series of transactions involving former Gov. Mike Easley. As the feds’ work moves forward, media outlets are recognizing the contributions of Carolina Journal and executive editor Don Carrington in exposing Easley’s questionable land deals. Carrington has discussed his investigations in the past week with WTVD Television and WPTF (Scott Fitzgerald) and WTIB (Henry Hinton) Radio. The News & Observer noted CJ‘s work in its initial report about land transactions involving Easley. The Beaufort Observer also covered the story. Meanwhile, the Fayetteville Observer noted CJ‘s investigation into Easley ally “Mac” Campbell, who recently resigned from the N.C. Board of Transportation.
