One of the things I really admire about classical liberalism is the concept that government should bestow no special favors. I strongly disagree with the court decision that perks given to corporations that meet government’s criteria for being “strategic” are constitutional. And so, I find this junket to the Grove Park Inn in the name of government-stimulated, high-tech green jobs idiotic. The object is to blur the line between the private and public sector in the name of partnering. In the end, high-ranking government officials will get more feathers in their caps, industry will sell no more than the market will buy, and I’ll walk to Mars before government creates wealth for the general populace through scarcity-producing favoritism.
