East Carolina University Athletic Director Jeff Compher unveiled plans for the $55 million Dowdy- Ficklen Stadium upgrade following the Pirates’ Purple and Gold game.
Compher outlined how the renovation will be financed:
According to Compher, the department must raise a total of $15 million in philanthropic funds, with the rest of the $55 million cost being paid out through the selling of the five new premium plans to be offered.
As of Saturday, $10 million has been committed in the first 50 days of the project, but Compher stressed that, “We’ve got to get that philanthropic dollar done because that’s a big piece of this. We feel like we can do it because the basketball facility (a major part of the school’s most recent athletic facility upgrade) was $17 million. We feel like this is a reasonable number for us to try to achieve.”
It will be interesting to see if that number is indeed achieved.
