John Leo is right that some within schools of education are embracing “Dispositions Theory” as a way to inculcate social justice fanaticism, collectivism, and radicalism.

…the ed schools, essentially a liberal monoculture, use dispositions theory to require support for diversity and a culturally left agenda, including opposition to what the schools sometimes call “institutional racism, classism, and heterosexism.”

This is nothing new. Critical Theory and other forms of academic Marxism have been staples of the post-Dewey ed school. It hasn’t met with much success. Education students are not interested in reading poorly written, jargon-filled social theory. Dispositions Theory is a dumbed down version of Critical Theory, making it better suited to ed schools.

I use the term “ed school” with caution because there are education professors (both conservative and liberal) that are fighting a good fight against nonsense like Dispositions Theory. Generally, the nonsense is found in curriculum and instruction departments, which are the holy centers of the fluff.
