To quote from the Herald-Sun:

“The e-mail message not only subjected the student to intentional discrimination and harassment, but also discouraged the robust exchange of ideas that is intrinsic to higher education and is at the very heart of the Constitution’s protection of free speech,” said the report prepared by the Education Department’s Office of Civil Rights and released Wednesday.

The OCR also exonerated UNC-Chapel Hill, saying the university properly handled the incident when it learned of it.

But make no mistake: What Elyse Crystall did constituted sexual and racial discrimination and harassment against her student. That much was obvious to most people from the outset. Now that the Office of Civil Rights has made the obvious “official,” would it be too much to ask the campus left and outside leftist organizations, such as the Independent, to cease pretending as if Crystall’s the victim of some right-wing conspiracy and admit her culpability?
