As legislators approach the end of this year’s session, it looks as if they will not move forward with new state education tax credits for families of children with special needs. That’s despite the bipartisan effort to pass the credits, including support from the N.C. Education Alliance. Alliance director Lindalyn Kakadelis discussed the idea back in May for the N.C. Family Policy Council’s “Family Policy Matters” radio program. An edited transcript of that interview appears in the latest edition of Family North Carolina. In other education news, the News & Observer reported this week that Jane Shaw has been named president of the John W. Pope Center for Higher Education Policy.
