Editorial writers from the Greensboro News & Record turned twice this week to the research of JLF’s Education Policy Analyst. First, an editorial about school standardized testing said “the John Locke Foundation’s Terry Stoops has a recommendation worth pursing,” the idea that North Carolina state government should get out of the business of preparing, writing, and conducting its own tests. Later in the week, an N&R editorial cited Stoops’ work to correct misconceptions about teacher pay in North Carolina. Meanwhile, speaking of education, the Charlotte Observer published an opinion piece this week from George Leef of the Pope Center for Higher Education Policy. Leef explored the true worth of a college degree.
