With a score of 73.5, North Carolina is higher than the national average and ranks 15th in the nation in K-12 achievement, according to Education Week’s Quality Counts 2020.
In the Southeast, North Carolina trails Florida, Virginia, Maryland, and Tennessee.
North Carolina is also one of the most equitable states in the nation, earning a B for the “degree to which education funding is equitably distributed across the districts within a state.”
