Former Sen. John Edwards had decided to retain the two irresponsibly profane bloggers he hired last week. I guess he was afraid that the vengeance that would be visited upon him by the squealing left-wing blogosphere would be worse than anything negative that he might experience from average voters. Allah has all the details.

Edwards soft-pedals his bloggers’ past excesses. He says “they have both assured me that it was never their intention to malign anyone’s faith, and I take them at their word.” Is this man stupid or just dishonest? If they didn’t mean to malign, then what was their intention? I won’t transcribe any of their obscene, anti-religious blather. It’s not meant for a family blog. But you can find it out there.

As Allah points out, Edwards uses the typical lefty paranoid ploy of accusing the right of trying to distract him and his lefty backers from the real issues facing America. I just have a feeling he’ll regret this decision before it’s over.

UPDATE: Amanda Marcotte, formerly of the Pandagon blog, says she never meant to offend anyone. The Washington Post quotes from her statement of apology:

“My intention is never to offend anyone for his or her personal
beliefs, and I am sorry if anyone was personally offended by writings
meant only as criticisms of public politics,” Marcotte said. “Freedom
of religion and freedom of expression are central rights, and the sum
of my personal writings is a testament to this fact.”

The unhinged left benefits from journalistic standards. From reading the WaPo’s coverage or The New York Times‘ account a reader would never truly understand how off the rails these two women are. To get an idea, check out Michelle Malkin’s two dramatic readings of Amanda Marcotte’s blog offerings (here and here). They’re bleeped when necessary, so you should be OK.
