The local daily summarizes what Asheville City Council said at their meeting last night about gender-agnostic restrooms.

[Mayor Esther] Manheimer said city legal staff told a council subcommittee a decades-old nondiscrimination ordinance in Charlotte intentionally left out bathrooms.

“What that meant for Charlotte is that they had an ordinance on the books that could be interpreted to mean that discrimination could be imposed in the use of bathrooms,” the mayor said. “They had something to fix, in other words.”
