The following email was forwarded to me on Wednesday:
I am writing to ask your assistance in our effort to recruit candidates for two new faculty positions in our School of Education.

Elon University is a terrific place to teach and to conduct high quality research. But we are not nearly as diverse in our representation of minority faculty as we would like to be. Thus, my direct appeal to deans.

It is unfortunate that his “direct appeal to deans” did not have more to do with finding the most qualified candidates for the faculty positions.
