Legislative Republicans used their weekly press briefing to push for movement on a proposed constitutional amendment limiting governments’ powers of eminent domain.
A proposed amendment has support from 80 percent of the members of the House, but the bill tied to that amendment is stuck in the House Rules Committee.
House Minority Leader Paul Stam, R-Wake, says he’s optimistic the bill will get a hearing.

Senators have filed a similar bill, and Senate Minority Leader Phil Berger, R-Rockingham, is watching the issue with interest.
After the meeting, we caught up with one of the House’s bills primary Democratic sponsors, Rep. Dan Blue, D-Wake.
House Majority Leader Hugh Holliman, D-Davidson, is offering no commitments.
