House Bill 1268, “Eminent Domain,” was on the House calendar tonight.  However, it was not heard and will remain on the calendar for consideration tomorrow.

You can listen to the audio of the debate tomorrow afternoon from the NCGA Web site

On another matter, the House also discussed Senate Bill 870, “Make General Statutes Gender Neutral.”  Rep. George Cleveland, R-Onslow, commented that he did not mind if the governor was female or male; he just wanted a governor who was competent.

Rep. John Blust, R-Guilford,  questioned the need for this. Rep. Curtis Blackwood, R-Union,  and Rep. Ronnie Sutton, D-Robeson, raised questions about the cost. (It’s minimal.)  Rep. Derorah Ross, D-Wake,  explains that the process will be carried out by the General Statutes Commission, a volunteer and deliberative group of law scholars. She assures members the process will be careful and thorough.

The bill passes 79-33.
