At a well-attended candidates forum, Daren Bakst spoke to the audience on Kelo and eminent domain.  He provided background on the case and explained why NC law doesn’t protect us from Kelo-type takings. And after hearing news that the House Select Committee on Eminent Domain had essentially recommended to do nothing to existing eminent domain law, Daren spoke with the AP.  His disappointment made it to print in New Bern and Myrtle Beach. And this just days before a Headliner Panel Discussion on the future of property rights in North Carolina sponsored by the JLF and the Federalist Society.  The panel discussion exposed listeners to both sides of the Kelo debate as potrayed by Ellis Hankins of the NC League of Municipalities and Justice Robert Orr of the NC Institute for Constitutional Law.
