You might have read about the Energy Independence Act moving through the General Assembly, especially if you read today’s opinion page in the News & Observer.

Since he’s not here today to discuss the issue himself, I’ll transcribe what Roy Cordato told me about the idea:

It’s actually quite silly. It’s really just a hodgepodge of tax credits and subsidies to get people to do things that the state government wants them to do for whatever reason. And they don’t really state their reasons very clearly here. Obviously, it makes no sense for North Carolina to be energy-independent. Independent of who?
