While advocates for renewable energy mandates claim those mandates will help create new jobs in North Carolina, a recent report the Beacon Hill Institute completed for the John Locke Foundation finds the exact opposite result: thousands of lost jobs and a multimillion-dollar hit to the state’s economy. JLF Legal and Regulatory Policy Analyst Daren Bakst discussed the report and energy mandates during an appearance Monday with Tara Servatius on WBT Radio. The News & Observer‘s business blog also discussed the report. Meanwhile, an e-mail blast from N.C. Senate Republicans promoted both the news release associated with the new report and a renewable energy column Bakst had written earlier for National Review Online.
