The Charlotte arm of Flaherty & Collins Properties is liquidating with no 50-story condo tower built on top of the EpiCenter. Short-term that is a $82K property tax hit for the city and county, long-term the retailers inside the EpiCenter who were counting on those 420 condo units to provide foot-traffic face daunting business prospects.

I’ll be watching to see how quickly the $818K property tax bill on the EpiCenter — now valued at $61m. — gets paid early next year.
