Today’s Wall Street Journal has another revealing editorial on that great monument to political folly, ethanol. A problem that apparently none of the pro-ethanol pols knew about is that producing it requires enormous amounts of water and plants in the midwest threatens to drain the aquifers.

Taking everything into account, it’s evident that ethanol consumes resources that are substantially more valuable than the resulting product. The time to scrap the ethanol mandates is right now. Will any politician stand up and say so?
